The advent of the valley railroad meant the demise of the canal, but now a century later, the refurbished Ohio Canal Towpath Trail has opened as twenty mile hike and bike trail through the Cuyahoga Valley National recreation Area and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad now makes regular stops in Peninsula.
Peninsula feels like no place else.. Shop our antique & specialty shops, browse our galleries or rent a bicycle on a summer afternoon. Come to relax, to enjoy and to discover. Come feeling good and leave even better. You'll discover for yourself...
...Peninsula is a very special place!

Welcome to Peninsula, Ohio!
The Canal Town of the Western Reserve

Nestled in the heart of the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area, the historic village of Peninsula is a shopping, dining and recreational mecca for Northeast Ohioans and visitors from around the world.
The village a national historic district, retains much of it's original character and though shops, restaurants and galleries now fill the former general stores and railroad depots, there is still a certain "majesty" in the Western Reserve architecture of it's buildings.
